Joining a practice that had serviced the needs of his community since 1970 was an honour when Dr. John assumed practice ownership in 2013. He had grown up in Toronto and wanted to practice in a close-knit community, near his family. Being a part of the community is important to Dr. John – both personally and professionally. He regularly volunteers at music events, supports the Humane Society and local food banks, and helps our sports as a team sponsor.
As a dentist in Etobicoke, Dr. John enjoys reimagining smiles with full-mouth restorations and rehabilitations, Dr. John is dedicated to helping you smile with healthy confidence. With the philosophy that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, Dr. John will work closely with you to ensure that your needs are met with reassuring excellence.
Away from the practice Dr. John and his partner Sarah enjoy calling Etobicoke home. Dr. John loves to stay active and has run over a dozen marathons to date! You may also find him golfing, playing tennis, or volunteering.
Dr. Ryan has been with the JM Dental team since 2012 as a Board-certified Endodontist. He is a wonderful fit for our caring team and embraces the technology at his disposal. His passion is to use his knowledge and expertise to save teeth with root canal treatment, helping you to avoid a future with missing teeth or the need for tooth replacement. Dr. Ryan is so passionate about the roots of teeth that his Masters’ thesis looked at the complexities of molar root canals! He is truly dedicated to your needs and his dental specialty.
Dr. Ryan places his focus on helping you achieve the excellent oral health and full set of teeth that supports a healthy body and your self esteem. When not helping others, Dr. Ryan enjoys travelling, spending time with his wife who is a vet, and loves being a father to their two daughters. As an avid baseball fan, Dr. Ryan’s dream is to bring his daughters to see the Jays in a World Series game.
Focusing his practice on dental surgery, Dr. Ammar has been an important member of the team at JM Dental since 2017. Whether your needs include wisdom teeth removal, dental implant placement, or general dental surgery, Dr. Ammar works with you to understand your goals so he can help you meet them. Getting you out of pain and back to your life – while smiling with confidence – is his priority.
Prior to joining our team, Dr. Ammar considered his own requirements in a new dental home and found that our friendly team, high standard of infection control, and use of dental technology suited his needs as well as they would suit his future patients. We are thrilled that he chose us – and hope you will too!
Dr. Ammar grew up in Toronto and loves to volunteer in a variety of ways for the causes closest to his heart. When he’s not helping people smile, Dr. Ammar enjoys cooking, working out, and travelling.

A dental crown (also known as a tooth cap or tooth crown) is a fixed prosthetic device, which simply means it’s a tooth restoration that you don’t remove – it stays permanently in your mouth to support, strengthen, or conceal a tooth. It also refines its shape, alignment, color, and function. In days past, most crowns were made of gold, but now, because of their beauty, strength, and natural look, most crowns are made of porcelain. They’re so life-like, only you and your dentist in Etobicoke – us! – know that you’re sporting one.
The most common uses for crowns include:
Dental crowns are extremely durable, function the way your own teeth do, and with proper care, can last for 10 years or more. Let us help you love your functional and beautiful smile. Contact us today for your no-obligation consultation!
Dental implants are a revolutionary way to replace missing teeth, regain form and function, and avoid the bone loss and facial changes that come when teeth are lost. When you have more than one missing tooth, bone loss can give you a prematurely aged look, your ability to enjoy the foods you love can be diminished (as chewing may become compromised), and your nutrition may also suffer. Dental implants can intercept these risks.
A dental implant is a biocompatible post that is inserted into your jawbone and continually stimulates the bone to prevent further bone loss. A crown is placed on this replacement tooth root to replace your lost tooth and let you chew the foods you love. They are self-supporting (they don’t need crowns on neighbouring teeth for support as you’d need with a dental bridge) and are beautifully crafted to look like a natural tooth.
If you’re looking for dental implants from a dentist in Etobicoke, we can help! As with all of our services, we offer a variety of solutions to meet your needs. Whether you want to replace a single missing tooth with one implant, or all your teeth with All-On-4 implant-supported dentures, this procedure could be the solution you’re looking for. Call today for a no-obligation consultation to see if this fantastic tooth-replacement option is for you!
JM dental provides a 24-hour dental emergency hotline! Call Dr. John right away and we’ll help you through. Dental emergencies can be stressful – partly because of not knowing what to do. Here’s a quick cheat sheet to help until you can get in to see us for an emergency dentistry appointment.
Knocked-Out Tooth – Adults: Carefully handle the tooth by the crown (white enamel top) – never the root – and, if possible, gently rinse the root it under clean water – never scrub it. Try to put it back in its place and call us right away. If you can’t place it back in the socket, either put it next to your cheek or in a container of cold milk. Call us right away and bring the tooth to your appointment.
Knocked-Out Tooth – Children: If the socket is bleeding, have your child bite on a clean piece of gauze, fabric, or paper towel. Put the tooth in a container of milk and call us right away.
Toothache: Most toothaches are cause by decay or infection, so it’s important to come see us right away. If you have pain that comes and goes, know that it will never stay away … and it will quite possibly get worse. Call us, and first, we’ll get you out of pain. Then we’ll diagnose and treat the issue.
Chipped or Broken Tooth: In many cases we can save a broken tooth, so give us a call and we’ll get you back to smiling as quickly as possible. If you can find the piece that broke off, bring it to us when you come.
Family dentistry refers to a wide range of dentistry services provided for your family members of all ages, in a family friendly environment. Family dentists are general dentists who understand that children’s smiles aren’t the same as adults’ – and that older adults need a different kind of care than younger ones. And they take the time to listen to your needs, concerns, and wishes. They’ll be upfront – at all times – about your oral health and work closely with you to achieve an optimal smile and help you keep it that way for life.
At JM Dental, as your family’s dentist in Etobicoke, you can have all your dental needs taken care of in one location. We have general dentists and specialists available to give you your care in one convenient location. Our team of doctors is the foundation of our practice. They have a wide range of dental skills and interests, which they augment through ongoing clinical training and education. Our general dental care services include everything from cleanings and general checkups to repairing teeth with dental crowns, saving teeth with root canal therapy, protecting your smile with wisdom tooth removal, and helping to get you out of pain with emergency dentistry. We are a child-friendly practice eager to accommodate little ones with a lot of love and attention. Contact us today to be welcomed into our dental family!
If you’re like most people, you’ll have some or all four of your third molars (wisdom teeth) removed at some point in your life. Perhaps you’ve already had this done and now your son or daughter needs assessment. Are they experiencing discomfort or pain at the back of their mouth or in their jaws? Do they have swelling around the jaw? Is the pain affecting their sleep? Are they having trouble opening their mouth or eating? Do they have chronic bad breath or an unpleasant taste in their mouth? They could have impacted wisdom teeth – and they’ll need to see a dentist in Etobicoke for help. For complicated extractions, our on-site oral surgeon is here to help you get the care you need, from the same familiar office you have come to trust.
Wisdom teeth extraction isn’t always the answer. In some cases, close monitoring and special cleaning techniques are enough to keep wisdom teeth in check… But the only way of knowing what action should be taken is by calling JM Dental for a thorough examination. We’ll help determine the best course of treatment, and no matter the best option, we can help! Call today!
